Cenk Uygur rose to fame as co-creator and co-host of The Young Turks which, since 2002, has been one of the most influential outlets for left-wing advocacy in America. Boasting the likes of Ana Kasparian, Jimmy Dore and Dave Rubin as current and former hosts, the show is widely recognised as a chief star-maker of political pundits in the 21st century. With a 22-year history, it’s the second longest-running online news and political talk show in the world, behind only The Alex Jones Show. Last October, he announced his candidacy in the 2024 Democratic presidential primaries, before withdrawing in March. Today, he continues to host The Young Turks, as well as appearing regularly on Piers Morgan Uncensored.
So why did we invite him on?
Cenk doesn’t hide from the other side. Even in hostile environments, Cenk is uncowed in his advocacy for left-wing causes. In the last year, he has taken the pro-Palestine case directly to some of Israel’s fiercest defenders, taking on the likes of Douglas Murray, Dinesh D’Souza, Destiny, and Dennis Prager.
More importantly, however, Cenk doesn’t hide from his side. Few Democrats have been as outspoken in criticising their party, and we wanted to offer him a space to express his position fully.
What did we talk about?
One subject was unavoidable; it starts with ‘D’ and ends with ‘onald Trump’.
You may have seen the viral clip of Konstantin challenging Cenk on his claim that the former and upcoming POTUS is a fascist. He’s not alone in his view, but we wanted to hear the case fully elaborated. Were we convinced? Were you?
We also had to tackle Kamala’s recent defeat. If Trump is so evil, how did he win so convincingly? What does that say about Americans? Or, rather, does it say something about the Democrats?
Cenk takes no prisoners in his takedown of the party:
“You said Trump is a maniacal clown, and then you lost to him… what does that make you?”
