Dr. Scott Tinker is an American geologist, educator, energy expert, and documentary filmmaker who focuses on the intersection of energy, environment, and economy. He served 24 years as Director of the Bureau of Economic Geology and State Geologist of Texas, and is now a professor at UT Austin and CEO of Tinker Energy Associates. He founded the Switch Energy Alliance and co-produced the documentary films Switch and Switch On, screened in over 50 countries, and hosts the PBS series Energy Switch.

Is oil ACTUALLY derived from years of squashed vegetation from 200 million years ago? i was told this at school and its oft repeated but ive never seen or heard something that actually proves it to my satisfaction, in the way the making of synthetic diamonds actually makes sense. Happy to be convinced either way i dont have an axe to grind just asking! thanks.
