Please explain why Governments want to persue net zero? is it corruption? is it stupidity?
You cannot "buy work" the same as if you cannot get out more than is put into these schemes - if solar or wind was cost effective every Mcdonalds and Starbucks/B and Q etc would have a wind generator or be covered in solar panels and they would profit from it, the fact they dont tells all. Its the Govt throwing money away it seems just to "offshore" their carbon emissions - it just doesent make sense and the everyman is paying for it!
Are you familiar with Bret Weinstein's thesis relating to mouse telomeres and the impact this has on drug safety tests? If so, do you have any thoughts on this and why this isn't discussed more?
The people who feel the politicisation the most in academia are the people at the bottom (mostly the PhD students and post-docs). Is there anything we can do to fight the politicisation or are we doomed to be fired for our "incorrect views"?
Do you feel hopeful about the future of scientific research and potential future pandemic responses now people like jay bhattacharya and bobby Kennedy jr are in positions of authority in the US?
Thanks Matt for many of your writings. We seems to have lost our scientific vigour in testing our hypothesis and continually stress test our research assumptions when comes to ‘climate change’. We now blame majority of seasonal variability on human actions. We no longer prioritise protecting livelihoods against floods but to let the river/sea does its thing. Has science now become philosophy?
How much of this politicization of the sciences can be attributed to people just being unwilling to accept that life isn't fair? Because it's easier to blame others than accept the fact that we've made bad decisions or that we've devoted a lot of effort to something that didn't produce results. This has been my experience in the blue collar fields I've worked, for the past few years. Didn't get that promotion? Didn't get that job you applied for? It's convenient for people to say "It's because they've racist. It's because they're sexist. It's because of favoritism" I can see people in the sciences reacting the same way if their paper doesn't get published or if they don't get the academic post they applied for.

Do birds love it?

What do you think Dawkins gets wrong about evolution?
What is your assessment of the state of climate science? Gallileo reborn or pigs at the trough?

"What are birds anyway...we just don't know."
